I'm about to download this minimalist mp3 player called Music Maker, but I'm beginning to think that there might be something I'm missing. What the heck is it? I set out to create Music Maker because I’d been playing around with something similar for a while and I wanted to add some features that would make it more robust and easier to use. As a student of music production, I was always looking for ways to improve my performance, and Music Maker was the solution to all my problems. XSynth is a software synthesizer built with Clojure and ClojureScript. It uses a lot of the ideas from Fretlight, +D and Prismatic (with some originality and twists), and it's different from all these in some aspects: it has a powerful editor (for both code and visualization) allowing to create many different kinds of instruments; all its generated sounds follow the same rules; it's easy to visualize the generated sounds; you can add new instruments by defining new vjs (visualization JavaScripts); this modular architecture allows you to add new features on your own. It was a kind of an "improved" version of a synthesizer I made a year earlier in my school's computer science class. I loved it so much that I decided to make an even better one, so I started learning Clojure and ClojureScript and wrote my own synth in this language.
